In 2015 Magellan became the proud new flagship of the CMV fleet and like the Marco Polo and Azores will operate as an adult friendly ship. At 46,052grt she will carry about 1250 passengers accommodated in 726 cabins spanning nine passenger decks serviced by eight lifts. Her wide corridors and stairways and expansive deck areas with wood type decking in many areas exude a real feeling of spaciousness with a wide range of comfortable well appointed lounges and panoramic seating and observation areas ideally suited to our scenic cruise programme. Combining expansive, comfortable surroundings and friendly service with stylish entertainment and delicious cuisine, Magellan is the perfect choice for those looking for a greater range of on board facilities. However, she still retains a feel of intimacy and personal attention when compared with the ‘mega’ resort style ships built today. No climbing walls or ice-skating rinks and no kids! Magellan has two beautifully appointed dining rooms; the Waldorf and Kensington Restaurants and the more informal bistro for casual dining. The magnificent tiered main show lounge spans the height of two decks and affords wonderful viewing opportunities complemented by a host of superb lounge bars and public areas. Joining the fleet in March, Magellan’s home port will be London Tilbury and in the spring she will also sail from Newcastle Tyne and Dundee too. Her maiden CMV cruise will be a twelve night voyage from London Tilbury to the Faroes and Iceland and the land of the northern lights to coincide with the total solar eclipse, scheduled for Friday, 20th March. She will join her fleet mates, Marco Polo and Azores to hopefully witness the spectacular solar corona. The summer programme will visit Norway’s- Fjordland, the North Cape and Land of the Midnight Sun, Scandinavian Cities, British Isles, Iceland, Baltic Cities & St Petersburg and the Canary Islands. In winter 2015/16, Magellan will sail to warmer climes - the West Indies, Christmas & New Year Canaries and an epic 42 night voyage to the Amazon and West Indies. Alternatively, travel in search of the spectacular Northern Lights.
